I thought it was the battery so I got a new Platinum from Advance. I did not start the truck for a couple weeks and it was dead.
Jump started it and took it to Advance. They put the load tester on it and said it was bad. They put a brand new one in it last night and this morning it's dead!! Alternator is putting out No dome light or back light on. Plain truck with no pwr windows, locks, alarm or anything. Just cruise and aftermarket radio that was in it when I got it 2yrs ago. Never had this problem. I don't hear heater fan running or anything when I turn it off.
Only drain should be the keep alive for the time in the radio. Would the OBD show any code? I doubt it. How in the world am I going to trace this?? I tried what you said and put my meter inline Had it set on the ma setting and it reads Took the alternator completely off and it still reads the same. Removed the 15a fuse for the radio so the clock was out of the equation and it still reads ma.
Had one of the kids sit in the truck and he said hey dad the gauges move up a little. So when I complete the circuit with my meter the gauges all move from below zero reading to zero but they are drawing current.Chevrolet Trailblazer owners have reported 14 problems related to battery dead under the electrical system category.

I drive the SUV very infrequently, maybe only 40 miles a week. On decmber 7, the headlights started to flicker while I was driving across the chesapeake bay bridge in maryland.
This was very concerning because it was getting dark out. I drove directly to a friend's house, and when I tried to park the SUV the lights would not turn off. Even after manually trying to turn off the lights and removing the key from the ignition, the lights would not turn off. Finally the lights went out, but the battery was dead when I tried to restart the SUV in the morning. We tried to charge the battery. This caused sparks by the fuse box and the lights inside the cabin began to turn off and on, even with the key out of the ignition.
The headlights also started to flicker off and on and the doors locked an unlocked. I had the car towed back across the bridge to my local mechanic and was told I need a new battery. Obviously the battery is not the issue. I would like to know what gm intends to do about the faulty wiring in these models and how they are going to correct the issues related to the recall notice I received in October The recall number is and I think this current problem is related to it.
I received the notice and it states the parts are not available at this time and to park the vehicle outside. I called and asked if it is ok to drive the SUV and was told "yes".

Since I must drive across a 5 mile bridge several times a week, I am concerned the truck will break down and cause an accident. I am also concerned a passenger or my pet dog could be injured. This was actually the second or third incident where the key got stuck in the ignition, blazer was in park the lights remained on so did the radio anything that is typically on during aux, but this was the beginning of a long problem that lead to me trading off.
The key gets stuck you can not remove it caused the battery to go bad, it would begin to happen often the service engine soon light would come on, the transmission would not shift above 3rd gear, also shortly after the purchase in sept of the speedometer stopped working. The blazer died 3 times gauges on dash would periodicly stop working. My service 4 wheel would come on randomly the key issue was the biggest problem but it was only a matter of time before other things went wrong.
When the key would get stuck in the igintion as stated the transmission would not shift properly in the beginning the transmission would act out once you took it out of park it was noticeable but as the problem became worse it started happening driving down the highway I noticed once that I have successfully made it through but never got out of 3.
I should state that when the key was stuck I would have to manually shift through the first and second then put it into drive otherwise the car had no power because it would be stuck in the higher gear.
Tried to contact the dealership as there was a recall on the dash for the model and they told us it wasnt a safety problem I do not understand how random loss of power and random car dying is not a safety issue, I have been watching the list of gm recalls and I have not seen much about the Trailblazers, and it bothers me that I am sure there are other issues like the ones that I had. I am now having some weird problems and was hoping someone might have some insight to help me on this forum. Truck was running fine. I use my truck for work. So I take things out of the back of my Tailgate all day long. Well it started when I opened my tail. Well when I slammed the tail. So then a day came when it started raing The car continued to run and the speedomter worked, but the power windows did not, neither did the gas gauge,oil,battery,air conditoner,power locks and back wiper.
Next day the rain stopped and everything worked fine. Now its only when it rains.
I lose power to everything I just mentioned but the headlights and tailights still work. I had someone put it on a computer to get the codes, the codes go to the tailgate control module. Not the one behind the driver seat. I then had someone who had access to a Tec 2 GM Tool see if it would come up with anything. All lights and radio, headlights, windows, etc, will operate but not starter. It's like the starter isn't even getting power. I've replaced the ignition switch but no luck. I got in tonight and the battery light was on. Drive down the road and the info center said 'battery not charging'. So, is it a battery problem or an alternator problem? If the battery was defective, it wouldn't have triggered the battery light when you first got into the car.
Keep in mind, however, that a defective battery may have contributed to the Alternator failure. You'll need to have both tested because they operate together. Oh goodie. Sounds like a trip to the auto parts store is in my future! If your alternator is shot, chances are you also need a new battery.
Could be a bad connection somewhere I had some issues with my car recently and due to it's behavior I though t it could be the Alternator. After looking at it and measuring the Volts, I found the best thing to do was begin by changing the clamps on the wires connecting to the battery, works fine now lets hope it continues that way. If you have a good auto-electric starter, alternator, etc. That said if the original alternators in these have been superceded by an improved one, it would be a waste of time to put in another original.

I think its an electrical problem. The vehicle usually will restart once I pull over. My trailblazer only had a little overmiles on it. It was serviced regularly, gave no warning, just shut off like you turned key off.
It's very discouraging when you're a female headed to work at night. If it wasn't one problem it was another. Once I fixed something then something else went wrong. I can not get a break. I thought this was a good purchase but as soon as it went out of warranty everything is going wrong.
